This was such a fun session for me. We are in the middle of winter now, and we all just want to cuddle up inside and stay warm. This lovely family let me into their home and I was able to photograph them just “doing their thing.” I loved capturing their playful personalities and I feel like these photos are “so real.”
When I originally set up this session, the Mom came to me and asked my opinion about their clothing. She normally coordinates outfits for photos, but she was thinking of just letting her children wear what they loved, since that it how she wants to remember them. I thought about it for a moment. Normally, when I have my own family photos done, I spend hours shopping and coordinating our outfits. But . . . this mom had a point. Why not wear what you love and feel comfortable in? I told the mother that I thought it was a great idea, but that I thought that we should do the photos at their house, in the environment her children were comfortable with.
I’ve gotta say . . . I LOVE the result. We worked quick because it was chilly outside, but the kids had a blast, and it was one of the most fun sessions I have done.
The moral of the story: clothing for portraits can go both ways. While I still love the look of coordinated, layered, outfits, wearing what you love can work too.
I’ve been previewing several of my mini sessions recently. They were so much fun; I just loved all of the fun families I worked with. The family, was no exception. We took advantage of gorgeous Michigan fall weather and loved that the leaves were at their best. Enjoy these pretty shots . . .
I just loved spending time with this awesome family of 5. Little Parker is such a character! She had me laughing the entire time. I’ve gotta tell you, I love this time of year. Shooting families is the best!
Oh how I love this gorgeous family! Don’t the make cute kids? I love how each one of them has their own, perfect little personality and how it comes through in the photos. I can’t wait for them to add another little one to their crew this spring!
